The SLE 5528 is another type of contact smart card, which is similar to the SLE 5542 but with some differences in terms of its capabilities and specifications.

Like the SLE 5542, the SLE 5528 is a plastic card with an embedded microchip that can be read and written to through physical contact with a smart card reader. It also uses the ISO/IEC 7816 standard for communication with the smart card reader.

However, the SLE 5528 has a larger memory capacity than the SLE 5542, with a 1K-byte EEPROM. This allows it to store more data and applications, making it suitable for use in more complex systems such as electronic passports, identity cards, and payment systems.

The SLE 5528 also has additional security features such as a write protect function, which allows the card to be locked to prevent accidental or unauthorized changes to the data stored on the card. It also supports a unique serial number, which can be used to identify individual cards and prevent cloning or duplication.

To use the SLE 5528 smart card, a compatible smart card reader is required. The reader communicates with the card through physical contact, and can read and write data to the card’s EEPROM memory. Like the SLE 5542, the SLE 5528 supports password protection and access control to ensure that only authorized users can access the data stored on the card.
